Dr. Elvira Martín del Río studied Physics (1991) and got her Ph.D. in Physics (1995) in University of Sevilla (1991). He arrived to University of Huelva in 1996 and became founder member of the Physics of Complex Liquid (FILICO) Reserach Group.
She has collaborated actively with Prof. M. M. Telo da Gama (Lisbon) before obtaining her Ph.D. During this time, she became an expert in Density Functional Theory applied to the study of inhomogenous liquid crystals and their interfacial properties. She has also collaborated with Prof. M. P. Allen simulating thermodynamic properties, wich special emphasis on phase equilibria, of liquid crystal models. She has also worked in collaboration with Profs. George Jackson and Amparo Galindo (both from Imperial College London) developing and studying properties of inhomogeneous systems, as well as phase equilibria of liquid crystals.
